We take only assignment of Judgments for debts incurred due to:

· tortious or fraudulent conduct;

· judgments for unpaid wages, damages, or penalties owed to an employee; or

· rental debt, which means unpaid rent or other unpaid financial obligation of a tenant under the tenancy that has come due.

We do not take assignments of “Consumer debt” which means any obligation or alleged obligation of a consumer to pay money arising out of a transaction in which the money, property, insurance, or services which are the subject of the transaction are primarily for personal, family, or household purposes.

NOTE: Debtors who knowingly conceal assets from creditors may also be criminally liable under Penal Code sections 154-155. Such crime is a misdemeanor punishable by jail time up to one year and fines. Individuals who assist debtors in fraudulent transfers may be liable under a theory of criminal conspiracy as well. A recent 9th Circuit decision even endorsed the idea that there might be relief for creditors under "RICO" - the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act - to pursue a cause of action against person assisting a debtor in fraudulently concealing assets. Smagin v. Yegiazaryan, 37 F.4th 562 (2022).
